Thirukkural, also known as the Kural, is a classic Tamil poetic work written by Thiruvalluvar, a Tamil poet and philosopher. Composed around 2,000 years ago, it consists of 1,330 couplets or Kurals, addressing various aspects of life, ethics, and morality. Thirukkural is divided into three books: Aram (virtue), Porul (wealth), and Inbam (love).
Each Kural is concise and focuses on universal values and ethical principles. Thiruvalluvar's work has transcended time and cultural boundaries, influencing literature and philosophy not only in Tamil Nadu but also globally. The simplicity and depth of Thirukkural continue to make it a revered and widely studied text, offering wisdom on matters of personal conduct, governance, and societal harmony.
